We Ain't Got No Beds In My House

"We ain't got no beds in my house."


My name Ruth Ester, gon tell yaw bout; where we live; bout; mama nem. We got um sevn brothas and five sistas; make us has twelv chiren. Mamma say daddy come home frum work we's gon be ok. Daddy leff cause we can't get the welfare peoples ta give us some stamps. Mamma say da people say we got two dults in da house. Daddy say he gon get work out of town; but he never came back Mamma say bess wait on da Lord; cause we wait on daddy we wait long time.
"We ain't got no beds in my house."

My brothas; Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James and Soloman ain't even twelve. Mamma carry da Bible twicst on Sunday; say that's why her chiren names from da Bible. "ltl" baby sista name Mary she fo months; tink I'm gon take care of her foever; never get play with my friends no mo.
"We ain't got no beds in my house."

Mamma got fo jobs she be tired. She sleep lots. We live in an part ment wit two room. We got this old blue couch springs; hurt my bottom. We got two tv's , one sits on top of da other one. One fo sound; one fo picture. We go church every Sunday; mama pays ties, says the Lord gon bless us.
"We ain't got no beds in my house."

On Sunday moaning ,we's playing jacks; wise mamma in da kitchen cooking; She got da flower n eggs in nair dropping chicken in it. And can't forget the cornmeal. She got dat hot grese on the fire. Gon bees some good eats today. I don't know why she cook collards to days for we's eats em.. Took me quite some minutes cook dem dare sweet tatoes, hafta pit brown suger, nut meg and eggs too Now .I don missed half of jj on Good times. Mamma say she teach me how's ta cook suppa at my young age so's I can get good school; mamma say man likes girls when they's cook good.
"We ain't got no beds in my house."

I don't see sissy nam no mo; Mamma say thays gett'n de'grease in school; they gon come back bi we a real house. Some times I get to sleep on the mattres me being oldest an all. Mamma say the Lord say he gon to pair a manchin fo's us cause
"We ain't got no beds in my house."
