A chapter in the book Dear Lexi

Come Closer, Child

by Rdfrdmom2

come closer, child, so you might see
universal dimensions of empathy
laying upon our hearts’ responsibility
for healing our world's infirmities

come closer, child, so you might know
the peace of a brook, the caw of a crow
adding to the scenery of life below
the Sacred Spirit you must come to know

come closer, child, so you might glean
understandings of sights unseen
learn the importance of living clean
and so much more  there in between

come closer, child, so you might rest
before you set out on your quest
to protect those others may molest
for you are equal to this test

come closer, child, so you might know
sins are still dirty when covered by snow
don't allow the world to make them grow
into habits you wish  not to sow

come closer, child, so you will see
in my eyes, you will always be
a source of love and purity
as well as an integral part of me

The Mirror: by Sacred Heart

Love tears
at a silent heart
with powerful
images
that can't be
denied

Within a
distant mirror
that beckons
come closer...
closer still

I need you
standing there
in the light of
the world's
infirmities

Let your eyes
open child
to the needs
of others

Where actions
have a
universal dimension
and forgiveness
heals

Where empathy
gives us a sense
of responsibility
for people
the environment
the earth
a new generation

Where love
stirs into
action
through heart
a sense of virtue
that won't
be denied

Come closer...
