Forced to Rhyme

Post Truth World

by Mark Jackson

The truth is written on a fag packet

The truth is I don’t know where I put it

The truth is it might be in my jacket

The truth is I don’t smoke, I quit

The truth is not what it used to be

The Truth is all things to all people

The truth is an unforced guilty plea

The truth is in a church under its steeple

The truth is this is not what I voted for

The truth is an overfed son of an immigrant

The truth is on the killing room floor

The truth is these days I’m ambivalent

The truth is no longer concerned with facts

The truth is an unnamed source

The truth is handed down to us in scraps

The truth comes riding on a pale horse

The truth is hiding out there, somewhere

The truth will out, someday

The truth is the game was never fair

The truth is burning in an ashtray

The truth is I have the proof-

in a post truth world, there is no truth
