Love Sonnet For A Robin

by CrystieCookie999

Your reddish front makes rubies fade in shame.
Your eyes are tiny, blackened pearls of light.
A symbol of a springtime love, your name
belongs to sun-filled day and warmest night.
Endearing, cheerful songs revive the world
that wintered in an icy, loveless street.
Your flight is comforting, like youth unfurled,
with confidence so effortless and sweet.
Yet cats will chase, and dogs corrupt your song
with barking or with bounding leaps that scare.
Your time to find a mate is never long,
but hope inspires your song to find her there.
Since songbirds matter most in springtime days,
your purest melodies deserve our praise.
