Just Wondering

by Sueswrite

I find myself, very often, deep in thought.

Remembering my childhood, and what I was taught.

Just wondering...

if other children kept secrets inside,

     if other children always cried.

if other children believed they were bad.

if other children always felt sad.

if other children wished they were dead.

if other children wanted to kill instead.

if other children hated the night.

if other children fell asleep with fright.

if other children were also bruised.

if other children grew up confused.

if other children were told they were dumb.

if other children kept their secret from mom.

I find myself, very often, deep in thought.

Remembering my childhood and what I was taught.

Just wondering...

For those who aren't familiar with most of my writing, this one is included amongst the many I've written pertaining to a battle I have with PTSD. Physical, sexual and psychological abuse from age 4 until I turned 16 years old, was never recognized by an adult who could have saved me somehow. I escaped from the location at 16 years old. That's it. Just the location. The signs are clear even behind secrets. As adults, we need to become more aware to every child we see. If something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. I'm always wondering...
