A cynical love poem

Arrows

by judester

Reluctant Valentinos
hiding in the shadows,
lost and lonely Romeos
dodging Cupid's arrows.

Ducking down dark alleyways
~poof~ they disappear.
Not a chance of romance
if that little imp comes near.

Avoiding troth at any cost
always keeps them worrying.
Just the thought of lasting love
sets their feet a'scurrying.

Valentine day sunrise
in lacy layers of red,
lethargic lotharios,
under covers, hide in bed.

Hoping that their hearts are safe
cautiously they rise.
That's when cunning cupid
hits them right between the eyes.
