Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
hopes and fears about the year ahead

New Year

by Claire Tennant

Somewhere, there are bells ringing
the old year out the New year in
instead of looking forward, the dregs of a COVID-covering
still linger
Not again, not again
been there, done that! no, not again
Someday, it will be over, and the pain
will leave its mark, and lessons learned
maybe
can't help but think egos are blazing
The ordinary person plods on
worse elsewhere? very likely
but it is still here,
like a tiger watching its prey
scheming
like a snake, poisonous or not
threatening
no semblance of order, no guarantee
it hovers
no surprises there
especially to God
Oh yeah, God
our Father and shield
let us yield
Only He knows the end
meanwhile
The bells are ringing in a New Year, a new dream
three hundred and sixty-five opportunities to start again
