An Acrostic Poem

When You Said Goodbye

White clouds parted as darkness came
Harbouring fear we could not tame
Empathy filled deflating hearts
Not yet ready for journey's start

You stayed with me through pain denied
Offered time, you bravely defied
Unyielding to the needs above

Suffering 'neath my tears of love
As cancer fed upon its prey
Idle hands moved, only to pray
During ascent to your new home

Go with thought, you're never alone
One day we'll meet for life's resume
Over the stars where love consumes
Dreams remain as memories form
But yet for me, I grieve and mourn
You see my love, I've longed to fly
Everyday since, you said goodbye
