The Pond Awakens

In brush strokes
of golden, gleaming light
the pond awakens from gloomy night.

Rushes sway
as the breeze-driven mist
rises from water the sun has kissed.

Ducks fly in
and the quacking begins
as they splash and flap their burnished wings.

The pond I visit has mallard ducks on it, but in your area you may be more familiar with geese. You could change 'ducks' to 'geese', and 'quacking' to 'honking'.
