Millions of families torn apart by the senseless Ukraine war
Night Train To Warsaw
by Mario PIERRE
As the train slowly pulled away from Kyiv station, an emotional soldier pressed his hands on the dusty window. “We’ll defeat them,” Lyudmila read on her husband’s lips. She shouted back, sobbing, “I know you will! Please be safe, Aleksander. I love you!”
The train disappeared through the cold night. Lyudmila woke up in Warsaw. It was morning. Staring at the window, she saw the loops and whorls of Aleksander’s fingertips still on the glass, lingering like a ghost longing to stay.

More than 12 million civilians have fled Ukraine, most of them to Poland, either by train, bus or walking through the border. Millions of families have been torn apart, wives and children hushed somewhere safe while capable men and women stayed to bravely defend their country. We ought to still pray for Ukraine and pray that the war criminal who instigated this horrendous act be brought to justice.
