Mom Fell On The Icy Stairs

Chilled to The Bone

by lauralumummu

The power was out we were chilled to the bones.
Minus fifty below so we bundled her up.
To take to our home, where the fireplace was nice and warm.
She slipped on the stairs and couldn't get up
I called the ambulance.
My husband held her, he was so cold his body shaking.

Mom was frozen too, but nothing seemed broken.
Ten minutes seemed like hours, then the paramedics arrived.
They gave her heat packs and took her back inside.
We had felt so helpless and very glad she survived.
