{The Gift of the Christ} What manner of love called Him down to a world dark and stained? Was Christ born for a sacrifice, or was it love ordained? Why did He choose the sin-sick world over His heav'nly home? Wondering why He left it all His kingly crown and throne. When Mary birthed Him in the stall, the place had been foretold. The life of Jesus blessed us all; and cancelled sin's stronghold. When the heavenly gift was laid upon the manger there; we knew He was God's only Son, a precious One, so rare. {The Angel's Proclamation} Angelic praises lifted high, Hallelujah--their song! Golden harp strings and silver things, all heaven came along: "Arise O Earth, for your Lord comes! Turn from the Jester's mirth! For unto you is born this day, One of a virgin's birth!" Anointed by the Holy God, sweet myrrh and frankincense; Jesus would buy the souls of men, at Father's great expense. And now the story has been told, again, once more today. Receive the One the angels praised-- with joy--do not delay!
