Listening for God's voice

What's That You Say?

by justjo66

Dear God,

It's me again
Just checking in
It seems, Lord, that I'm always doing the talking
This time I thought I'd just listen for a while

You already know my needs before I even ask
So, Father, I don't see the need to repeat
I'm going to sit out here on my porch this fine summer evening
And just listen.

Quiet my soul for a change and wait for your gentle voice
You know I need answers and your help
I can't do this all by myself

The breeze blows the leaves gently
And the Mockingbird sits on a high wire
I can hear children playing up the street
And smell chicken frying for someone's supper

What's that you said, Lord?
I'm afraid I was distracted by this beautiful day you've given us.
Yes, I know you love me.
You sent your only son to earth
Now he's sitting on your right hand
What's that?
Yes, I know He is making intercession for me.
I am thankful.
Be a doer of His word.
That's not always easy to do but I try.
He wants a relationship with me.
This is my hearts desire, too.

Lord, I'm glad we had this little talk.
Thank you for all your blessings.
