Spenserian Sonnet Entry

Shine

by kiwisteveh

As gentle sunshine stirs the barren field,
So does your love bring life to all around,
And then a richer, brighter world's revealed
Where sweetness, grace and beauty all abound.

The children born within your warmth are found
To flourish - summer's harvest reaching high.
Their roots once anchored deep in fertile ground
Will nourish growth that no one can deny.

Your solar beauty gives me strength to fly;
Upon uplifting winds I climb and soar.
The world in all its glory, I espy;
A future wrapped in brightness lies in store.

My sun, you grant me life and let me see;
Forever may your love so shine on me.

Write a Spenserian Sonnet writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
A Spenserian Sonnet was created by Edmund Spenser (1552 - 1599). It is a variation or a Shakespearean sonnet - it has three quatrains and a couplet. But there is a twist where you employ linking rhymes between quatrains. The rhyme scheme is ABAB, BCBC, CDCD, EE - and it is to be written in iambic pentameter.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
