She looked to them for help

Precious fat cat
Sweet face and disposition
You didn't deserve your fate

You didn't choose to get sick
Yet, they chose to not take you to the vet
I do not understand

You looked to them for help
When you could not eat for weeks
Their hearts had to be turned to stone

To watch your sad eyes and frail body
To watch you starve to death
Sad little cat

My tears flow down my cheeks
I would have helped if only I had known

Writing Prompt
Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.


I love all animals and can not tolerate the thought of ever mistreating a little one. Too late I knew of this little ones death.
