When porcine pretensions to flight are achieved
When government speaks and is truly believed
When men of religion preach tolerance first
When blisters of hatred and bigotry burst

     When wishes are horses and all of us ride
     When leaders by care and compassion abide
     When perversity's cured and the children are freed
     When corporate types are not driven by greed

When hens all have teeth and giraffes learn to speak
When the rich share their bounty with the poor and the weak
When the homeless are given each night a warm bed
When the hopeless are heartened, the hungry are fed

     When the shining blue moon lights the sky up above
     When mothers and fathers shower children with love
     When the prisons are razed and asylums are cleared
     When to walk city streets is no more to be feared

When the cormorant lays all his eggs in a bag
When the dove is enshrined on each nation's flag
When the weapons are rusted, the bombs are no more
When oil and pollution is cleared from the shore

     When the bumble-bee learns he's unable to fly
     When the dealers don't sell and the users don't buy
     When nurses and teachers are paid what they're worth
     When we've all learnt to love our great Mother, the Earth

Then..... aah, then.....
Then, only then, are the tales all spun
Then, only then, is the poet's work done.

To some extent this is a work in progress - I am quite pleased with it as it stands but I keep coming up with new ideas for the 'wish list' it contains.
If you have any ideas for polishing up any of the lines or even a whole new stanza that could be added, I would love to hear them.
