Green Lizards and Wedding Bells

by justjo66

It was to be the event of the year
A wedding held by my Great Aunt Ola,dear
The Moselle, Mississippi paper proclaimed
My Aunt Annette was going to change her name.

Great Aunt Ola's antebellum home quickly filled
Southern ladies are very skilled
Decorations of Magnolias, Gardenias and lace
Everything was ready and in its place

A reception table with a five tier cake
All these delights made my ten year old stomach ache
A crystal bowl for the pink punch
I could not wait to eat a bunch

Then I saw him hanging there
A little green lizard in the air
On the lace curtain by a claw
I was in complete awe

A back flip he did do
Into the bowl he flew
Several old ladies saw it to their dismay
I giggled and slipped away.

This really happened at my Aunt Annette's "fancy" wedding. The most fun I have ever had at a wedding. :o)
