Humpty Dumpty's Linemen!

by Mike K2

All the king's horses and all his men
couldn't put together again, Humpty Dumpty;
but that wouldn't be acceptable to people
wanting to receive their supplied electricity!
Fearing hurricane Irene's evil eye;
Baltimore Gas and Electric brought
in electrical workers from out of state
for the reestablishment with due haste
-Everyone's electrical power allotment.

Even though Irene barreled through
Without the feared and predicted ferocity,
she still robbed 822,000 customers
of their coveted supplied electricity!
Most people took this fated loss in stride...
Sharing generators' electrical power chords,
and checking in on lone residents which became
a neighborly responsibility and a source...
-Of community pride.

When the winds died down,
swarming like worker bees;
buzzing tree, pole, and line trucks,
people in their buckets putting new transformers up.
Whole streets of people sitting out on their stoops
saw their lights come on, proving they now have electricity!
Shouts of joys and jubilations...
-Hands clapping gleefully!

Some people felt slighted as it wasn't their desired turn,
and publically stated their dissatisfaction
with complaints and anger over the air waves...
-Boy did their tempers really burn!
In response BGE representatives also spoke;
standing up for themselves, explaining the situation,
and doing their best in helping people better cope.

Workers in the field also faced their frustration;
communication problems and fatigue...
But asked if they would like a break
and become a BGE spokesman they stated,
"We prefer working with the deadly electricity!"
Believe you me! The happiest people when everyone's
power is on are the assailed workers of BGE!

Calmed and restored from your wrath,
no candles, but street lights can be seen.
We bid you farewell, goodnight Irene!
