What can survive the end of the world?
Phoenix Rising
by kiwisteveh
If Planet Earth should plunge in flames tonight
And vanish like a sudden fiery spark, All Music, Art and Writing burning bright Would be consigned to everlasting dark. Oblivion would swallow ev'ry trace Of Mankind's bold achievements. Empires great, And monuments of every creed and race Are blindly swept aside by fickle Fate. But even as the embers of our world Disperse and drift like smoke across the sky, A budding Phoenix, wings of flame unfurled, In triumph rises, soaring ever high. A universe may be consumed by fire, Yet Love like ours unscathed survives the pyre. |
