Resurrection TV

by kiwisteveh

My favourite shows have come and gone,
I'm sure you'll recollect 'em.
If I had my way, they'd be back today,
I'd like to resurrect 'em.

Rin Tin Tin would rise again,
This time he's even smarter.
E.R.'d be back way down the track,
With Ross and Green and Carter.

And Bart, that lively yellow lad,
Does he end up in 'juvie'?
Arch bigot Archie Bunker
Could star in his own movie.

Good night to John-Boy and the rest;
Kin-folk could get no closer,
'Less Ben and Co. and Little Joe
Ride in from Ponderosa.

Steve Austin would cost more today;
Six million won't suffice.
Crockett and Tubbs spend more on duds
To grace Miami Vice.

Will Family Ties be binding still
Now Alex is President Keaton?
24 thrills with spills and kills,
Jack Bauer's still not beaten.

The Fonz can still pull in the chicks,
While Richie tags along.
That green frog true still tries to woo
Miss Piggy with a song.

The Korean War has ended, so
Could Hawkeye and Hotlips wed?
A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
Still running is Mr Ed.

"I know nothink!" Schultz declares,
As Hogan runs rings round him.
Tell Bobby Ewing, JR's suing
His clone, that is; they found him.

Ross and Rachel get divorced,
Their Friends don't know the reason.
Be careful, crews of Hill Street Blues,
You're in your 30th season!

Andy Sipowicz rules the roost
In New York's 15th Precinct
Barney and Fred are still not dead,
Though Dino's now extinct.

Jerry and George and Elaine too,
For Kramer throw a gala.
The gang at Cheers all raise their beers
When Sam is wed to Carla.

Across the ditch, the Brits have shows
That're worth resuscitating.
I'd make a rush for Basil Brush,
Blackadder's worth the waiting.

Steed and Peel in pairs solve crimes,
Miss Marple is a loner.
Basil Fawlty struts, drives Sybil nuts,
(Manuel's from Barcelona).

Some Mothers 'Ave 'Em, Frank's the proof,
Rumpole shakes up the Bailey,
Foyle fights his war, could he fight once more?
T'Street should be on daily.

Tom and Barbara's Life is Good,
Steptoe is a slacker
And then there's Fitz, loved him to bits,
He really was a Cracker.

Auf Wiedersehn, Pet, that's all you get,
Prime Suspect and Dad's Army.
The Onedin Line is sailing fine,
Hitch-hiker's Guide's just barmy.

Perhaps some Aussie shows are worth
A future on the telly,
If you could arrange a new Sea Change,
With Laura and Bob Jelley?

Boney could track a crook or two
And get them in the cactus.
The Sullivans could soldier on;
Let's bring back Country Practice.

A Thorn Birds sequel would be nice,
Just tell me when it is on.
Blue Heelers could catch some female crooks
To lock in Wentworth Prison.

Fred Dagg could line his Trevors up
To make us kiwis laugh.
Billy T James could play his games,
He was gone too soon, by half.

Seven periods with Mr Gormsby
Was not enough I fear.
More Shortland Street would be quite sweet,
Let's have another year.

But now my dream's run out of steam
I can go on no longer.
Do you have the time to pen a rhyme
To make my stanzas stronger?

I'm sure I've missed your favourite show
Or even two or three.
Go with the flow and let me know
What you'd most like to see.

Recognized

This is a work in progress. I have done it pretty much in one sitting and it could no doubt do with some polishing.
What I really hope to see is that anyone who reviews it adds an extra verse (as invited in the last two stanzas) to make it a truly interactive poem. I could edit it later and re-submit with credits to anyone who has contributed...
