Ice Clings to the Thuja Tree
by adewpearl
Snowflakes fall like frosted ferns Ice clings to the thuja tree Drifts shift as the chill wind churns Winter's frozen jubilee |

This poem is written in trochaic feet, which have an accenting pattern the opposite of more common iambic feet.
In the more familiar iambic meter, syllables are accented in a pattern of unaccented/accented - daDUMdaDUM. In trochaic feet the line begins with an accented syllable DAdumDAdum.
Thanks to the artist avmurray, whose photograph of ice drops on a thuja tree reached out to me this morning as I watched the snow falling outside my window.
