Four pelicans flew in a line,
one in the lead, three right behind,
in straight formation 'cross the beach,
a fine fish brunch within their reach.

Each knew from out the waves he'd pluck
a fresh filet with any luck,
a feast, no charging by the ounce,
just spot it swimming, dive and pounce.

We laugh at their outlandish beaks,
but when it comes to what they seek,
these bills scoop sushi from the sea,
fine gourmet dining, you'll agree.

Four pelicans flew in a line,
a comic sight, but they don't mind --
no better profile can they wish
than one designed to catch free fish.
