a mirrored refrain poem
Within the Rise and Fall of Tides
by adewpearl
Upon a peaceful, barren beach I watch a swell of waves arrive. Within the rise and fall of tides where lies what means to be alive? The sea extends its mighty reach till with the shore its surge collides. Where lies what means to be alive within the rise and fall of tides? So vast the deep, then it expands till calm once more makes still its drive. Within the rise and fall of tides where lies what means to be alive? At times the sea engulfs the sands then just as sure, the flood subsides. Where lies what means to be alive within the rise and fall of tides? |

The mirrored refrain poem consists of quatrains in which the final two lines are a refrain. In each verse the lines of the refrain flip. The second and fourth lines always rhyme.
