When Jack in the Pulpit Prays
by adewpearl
When Jack in the Pulpit begins to pray, I lean down to listen to what he'll say. I open my heart so that I might hear words spoken direct to my soul, not ear. I hear as he speaks of our need for peace. I nod as he asks that all hate decrease. I kneel when God answers that we must be the ones who achieve what we long to see. When Jack in the Pulpit begins to pray, I know I'll be asked to help pave the way, for God in His wisdom has placed His trust in those He gave life to be kind and just. |

The picture is of a greenhouse orchid, not a jack in the pulpit in the wild, but it at least suggests the shape. I suggest you google to see this gorgeous wildflower that grows in the woods in eastern North America. My father used to take me to find these beauties along the river in Valley Forge National Park. When you see a picture, you'll understand why it looks like a preacher in his pulpit.
