a variation of a mirrored refrain poem
As Katydids Sing Through the Night
by adewpearl
At times when discord troubles sleep and life has lost concordant tone, as katydids sing through the night, I know that I am not alone. Though clouds draw drapes across the sky and block the North Star from my sight, I know that I am not alone as neath the clouds still shines the light. When vacant space is all I find where constellations once have shone, as neath the clouds still shines the light, I know that I am not alone. Though doubts are planted in the dark, when met with faith they lose their might. I know that I am not alone as katydids sing through the night. |

In a mirrored refrain poem the two line refrain in each quatrain flips. In this variation, I have changed one of the refrain lines in the middle two verses to go with the star/cloud imagery.
As I could not find a picture of a katydid or the North Star in Fan Art, the illustration choice is more conceptual.
A katydid, for those living in parts of the world that do not have them, is a relative of the grasshopper and cricket, that makes a chirping song similar to the cricket's.
