When Night Gathers In
by adewpearl
When night gathers in to envelop me and naught fills the void of this gaping space, When clouds shroud the moon in complicity and darkness replaces the light of grace, When anguish effaces felicity and blackness has offered its cold embrace, I could choose surrender to cheerless night. Instead, I rely on my inner light. |

This poem follows the syllable count and rhyme scheme of the ottava rima with 10 syllables per line and rhyming in an abababcc pattern. However, the meter is a mix of iambic and anapestic feet. Just read the lines as you would naturally and it should flow.
