Penguins are flightless birds whose vestigal wings have become flippers. They have entertained people for ages with their awkward gait on land, and then, when they tire of waddling, they will slide on their stomachs (toboggan).
In water, they transform from clowns to creatures of unbelievable grace as they glide through the water at 15 miles per hour. When I visit New York City, in addition to the museums and the theater, my favorite thing to do is sit and watch the penguins at Central Park Zoo as they waddle and toddle and toboggan and swim.
