one happy quatrain
The First Day of Spring

My eyes have espied shoots sprout through the ground -- soon petals of purple from each will abound as I with the swallows and bobolinks sing to welcome the sun on this first day of spring. |

Swallows and bobolinks are both migratory song birds, the swallows famous for their annual return to the mission at Capistrano and the bobolink a favorite bird of Emily Dickinson and other poets.
