modified triolet dedicated to my friend James
A chapter in the book Triolets: Traditional and Modified
Point of View
by adewpearl
My lungs breathe in the salty air as squawking gulls fly overhead, and in this moment I'm aware as lungs breathe in the salty air, I am for them but one to share a morsel of my crusty bread. My lungs breathe in the salty air as squawking gulls fly overhead. |

The triolet is a French repeating form composed of 8 lines written in iambic meter. The rhyming pattern is ABaAabAB. The capitalized letters denote which lines are repeated, so line 1 is also lines 4 and 7 and line 2 is repeated as line 8. I have changed the first word in line 4, which is why I call this a modified triolet.
