In a Faraway Place

by adewpearl

In a faraway place in a faraway time,
lived a girl filled with grace with a face so sublime.
In her eyes shone the stars, in her cheeks blushed a rose,
in her laugh played guitars to the notes gods composed.

But this girl with a smile that could light up the skies
used her laughter and style as dark sorrow's disguise.
For of love she had none, and its warmth she had missed;
not one suitor she'd won, not one boy had she kissed.

For a spell had been cast all across her fine land,
that no hearts should beat fast -- at a witch's command.
This old hag had no smile, and her eyes did not shine;
she had nothing but bile and a cackle of whine.

Why should others feel warm in embraces of joy
when her life was a storm? Others' love she'd destroy!
So for years the spell held and no couples could dance
as true love was withheld and no soul felt romance.

But a boy came along on a magical night
who had heard the girl's song, who had seen her eyes' light,
and his love was so strong when he held out his hand
that all evil and wrong washed away from this land.

In a faraway place in a faraway time
lived a girl filled with grace with a face so sublime
that her smile gave a boy enough strength to prevail.
Now his love brings her joy, and so endeth their tale.
