Lemony Daffadowndilly

by adewpearl

Lemony
daffadowndilly,
slumbering
under snow,
you will be splendiferous
when your petals show.

The shadorma is a six line stanza with syllable count of 3/5/3/3/7/5. It is of Spanish origin and uses no set rhyme scheme.
Daffadowndilly is another one of my favorite happy words, just like polliwog, the subject of my first shadorma. It is just an old, poetic name for daffodils. A.A. Milne wrote a poem entitled Daffadowndilly. Following is a short Mother Goose rhyme:
Daffadowndilly
Has come to town,
In a yellow petticoat
And a green gown.
