Reflective Quatrains
The Day After
by adewpearl
As candles turn to melted wax and bells hang mute with none to call, no presents stand in stylish stacks in what was once a festive hall. No revelers make merry noise, no carolers sing Christmas songs, no parents seek elusive toys while shopping midst the frantic throngs. When needles from our trees have dropped and party invitations cease, some mourn the joy they think has stopped, but I instead embrace the peace. |
