quatrains in chain rhyme
Synergy
by adewpearl
I look to watch them passing by, alerted by their raucous cry, a flock of geese in flawless vee, who fill the clear and cloudless sky. I marvel at the mystery, the mirrored lines though each bird free to go its own way should it choose, yet none disrupt the symmetry. What might these creatures have to lose that not a single one refuse to stay within appointed line, nor even ask to be excused? Perhaps they follow this design because there's strength in work combined, a plan that's served them for all time, devised for them by One Divine. |

Chain rhyme is used in quatrain poetry and follows a pattern of AABA BBCB CCDC and so on.
Synergy is defined as "the interaction of two or more agents so their combined effect is greater than the sum of individual effects." If a goose breaks from formation, it will fall victim to drag and resistance. Flying with the flock increases their flying range by more than 70% as they are able to move faster and longer. When the lead goose tires, it rotates out of the lead position with another member of the flock to keep up their momentum. This allows migrations of thousands of miles. Whether one labels this a scientific principle or Divine plan, it is pretty darned impressive.
