just a bit of fun - for Amicus
Reluctant Ode
by adewpearl
The Yankees won; I want to stew -- they beat my Phillies, brave and true. If my boys won, I would have crowed, but since we lost, I owe this ode. They beat my team with ball and bat, so now to them I tip my hat. The team of Ruth, and Mantle too, are champs once more, what can I do? I made a bet, my debt is paid -- I've said, "Good job." I've hip-hurrayed. I won't be bitter, no not I -- "The Yankees won," just hear me cry. |

My good friend Amicus bet me his team would beat my team, the defending champs, in the World Series, and so they did last night. I had to pay up by writing the Yankees an ode. There was no clause that said it had to be heartfelt. ;-)
