a reflective ottava rima in one verse
A chapter in the book The Ottava Rima
Moonlight Fantasy
by adewpearl
The mystic moon pulls tides from ocean's floor to set in motion my heart's fantasy. I, but a speck of sand confined to shore, believe I'll ride those waves past drudgery to find new worlds fantastic to explore, and so escape what now imprisons me. I smile when distant moon sends down her beams, for with a little faith I'll reach my dreams. |
The Words Are The Same contest entry

The contest requires a poem of any style that uses 9 of 10 words from a given list. I have used the words "motion, heart, fantasy, believe, fantastic, escape, smile, distant and little." I left out the word "friction." We were allowed to add endings to words, such as "escapes," but not change the word to a whole other form, like "escapee."
I chose a one verse ottava rima as my poetic form - 8 lines of 10 syllables each in iambic pentameter with a rhyme scheme of ABABABCC.
