The septolet is a 14 word poem in 7 lines, divided into two verses. Together they form a whole picture, with the second verse completing the picture in some sort of ironic or surprising way that adds new perspective.
I have purposely not indicated what sort of decision she awaits - is she ill, is her child ill? Does someone need treatment? Does she need disability? Has their home been destroyed? That does not matter so much as the fact that while something has gone wrong in her family's life, the decision that controls her ability to handle it is out of her hands.
