The Magic Roundabout

by adewpearl

We ride the magic roundabout
as tunes of gay calliope,
melodic and mellifluous,
our circled path accompany.

In shades of rainbow loveliness
our mounts so rhythmic rise and fall,
your lion with a goldspray mane,
my bronze giraffe with neck so tall.

As happy lights blink on and off
around the roof and mirrored pole,
we frolic on this carousel
with no need felt to gain control.

Tomorrow will be time enough
to care for grim reality -
for now on magic roundabout
I'll spin with life's vitality.
