There are now a few dozen restaurants in New York City, Vegas, London and other cities worldwide that serve burgers for over a hundred dollars apiece. They compete with each other to produce the most expensive, which is now at about $200. And yes, many of them include shavings of gold leaf.
People actually buy and eat these things and boast about it.
