I spent the morning at a meeting of volunteers and staff members from various local organizations that work with the homeless and hungry. One of the issues discussed was the changing face of hunger - many people used to having a steady income and used to paying all their bills are now losing their jobs and applying for food stamps and showing up at food pantries for the first time. A person who shuns those in need would do well to consider if he himself might some day be among those in need.
