Abraham Lincoln in Memoriam

by adewpearl

As the life force drained
from his gaunt, exhausted form,
what thoughts filled his mind
of the world he'd worked to shape,
that year Good Friday came twice?

following morning, which was Good Friday in 1865. Only days earlier, on April 9, General Lee had surrendered to General Grant, thus ending four years of American Civil War.
