Budding is a term for one of the ways coral colonies expand. I'm not a scientist, but they explain it in Wikipedia if you're interested. I like the coincidental
term of coral budding and flowers budding since coral looks like flowers. I know I usually include illustrations, which readers enjoy, but I did not want to include a picture of a coral colony because then readers would know right away I was referring to coral.
