Beyond the pillars of the pier
I've always longed to be --
where sailors sail and seagulls fly
past all that I can see.

Where fluid waves roll on for miles
with naught to stop their swell --
where pods of whales sing lyric songs
and magic mermaids dwell.

Perhaps one day I shall explore
the secrets of the deep --
For now I dream upon the pier
as waves upon it sweep.
