My Red Balloon

by adewpearl

I held onto my red balloon,
yet still it found escape.
The gravity that I imposed
was not to be its fate.

It flew away, new worlds to find
and did not bid me come.
Our time together at an end,
but its life just begun.

I never viewed the sights it saw,
outside my company --
but I do know my red balloon
lived quite a life once free.

When I was looking for an illustration for another poem, I came across this gorgeous and intriguing piece by V Marguarite on FanArt. For days I've known I had to write something to go with it, and finally this morning, it all came together. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the artists on our sister site who make their work available to us as their art so enhances our words.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
