Ash Wednesday
by adewpearl
My Sins would weigh me down if I had not forgiveness found -- the guilt of my transgressions turned to ashes. |

While this poem was inspired by Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent in the Christian calendar, which takes place this year in just a few days, I do not believe it need be confined to those who share my particular religious beliefs. A person is blessed to find forgiveness from a loved one, from the person she transgressed against, from God. Perhaps she is most blessed if she learns to forgive herself.
