a fanciful love story
Sweet William Came a Courting
by adewpearl
Sweet William came a courting --
he sought the virgin's bower, in hopes a blue-eyed Mary might offer him her flower. He wore his bachelor's buttons to woo her bleeding heart. Her baby blue eyes batted -- her petals she did part. They asked Jack-in-the-Pulpit if he would marry them. She wore pink fairy slippers and daisy diadem. Now soon a baby's breath will join this florid pair. "Forget-me-not," he'll whisper, about their love affair. |

Just a bit of whimsy using the names of wildflowers, which are all italicized.
