Shall I?
by adewpearl
Shall I a dragon slay today, or shall I shilly-shally? Is this my day for derring-do, or time to dilly-dally? I have a bridge or two to cross to get to places grander. Perhaps right now I'll mount my march - or maybe just meander. I've heard the voice of conscience call, "Get going, take a gamble." And well I might when 'morrow comes, but now I choose to ramble. |

I have entitled this poem "Shall I?" because the word "shilly-shally," meaning, to hesitate to act, derives from the phrase Shall I? Derring-do means an act of heroism.
