Faith

by adewpearl

It's never the right time to give up.
No acrimony seeds my clouds today.
No acid rain shall seep into my ground.
The rain that falls, falls fresh upon my face,
no bitter tears among the fresh drops found.

I breathe in air once by indifference chilled,
but frigid blasts no longer freeze joy out.
Winds, discontent, have since their forces stilled,
the frost of my old sorrows now thawed out.

I once looked to the firmament and cried
at star-shorn skies that failed to guide my path.
I felt forsaken, blithely cast aside,
the fragile flotsam of life's aftermath.

But by compassion's warmth I have been freed
and follow in the light where hope will lead.
