Is God always announced with a fanfare?

Zephyr

by adewpearl

a modern sonnet about God's voice

The Bible's books are filled with dazzling tales
of God made manifest through startling signs.
From burning bush to deadly plagues of hail,
in spectacle so often God we find.

But must a blast of trumpets in fanfare
proclaim the presence of God's holy hand?
Must dove descend while winds whip up the air
to fan the flames of light throughout the land?

Must Holy Spirit live in fiery flame?
Is God's good news heard just through Gabriel's horn?
Do only miracles affirm God's name?
Is it only in the glare God's glory's born?

God's breath may be at times a gust of wind,
but sometimes it's a soft breeze felt within.
