I lift up my prayers to God.
Prayers of Supplication
by adewpearl
Give me a carpet of gossamer green, so my footsteps fall soft on the ground. Let me tread light on diaphanous ferns, so my presence makes barely a sound. Lead me to crystalline waters so cool, where the sun's rays reflect pale and pure. Let them flow freely into my parched lips, that my thirst might be quenched evermore. Sweeten the air with the redolent scent of the lilacs that bloom by the stream. Make me a perfume of daisied delight that I'd wear in my pleasantest dream. Blow gentle breezes across my scorched brow, whilst I while away halcyon days. Breathe soothing breaths in the hushed still of dawn as I gather wildflower bouquets. Silence my fears with melodious strains of the whippoorwill's sweet pastoral. Shelter me under a sky arced with trees and forever I'll stay here, I shall. Open my eyes when each daybreak arrives with lambent light sparkling with dew. Lay me to slumber when evening draws nigh as the sunset retreats from my view. Bid me goodnight when the nightingales sing peaceful vespers that reach to the stars. And then, undisturbed, I will shed all my cares, serenaded by heavenly choirs. |
