You are most likely acquainted with the short story by Kafka entitled Metamorphosis, in which a young man awakes in the morning to find he is now a rather hideous bug whose family is revolted by him. It is not a comedy. Kafka's other works, like The Trial, are all dark, existential, surreal stories in which the hero finds himself in grim and hard-to-fathom situations. Just suits the mood of a vampire bat.
